Indianapolis Area Dance Studio
En Pointe Indiana Ballet, an Indianapolis Area dance studio, serving Noblesville, Fishers, Carmel, Westfield, Geist, Zionsville and surrounding Central Indiana dance students, offers a full line of dance classes including ballet technique, pointe, variations, repertoire, pas de deux, jazz, modern, contemporary, tap, hip hop and more.
We are designed for students taking ballet as their primary activity, and minimum ballet technique hours are required and vary depending on the level. We also encourage our dancers to be well-rounded in all forms of dance.
BEGINNING MODERN
This class is open to all students interested in exploring dance. No previous movement training is necessary. Primarily created for students who are new to dance, it can also be extremely helpful for experienced movers who are new to modern dance. This class focuses on understanding the basic physical movements of modern dance. Momentum, gravity, and the uses of weight will be explored while developing a secure sense of placement and strength. The warm-up encourages freedom of movement by researching fluidity and balance as tools for stylistic exploration.
INTERMEDIATE MODERN
This class is intended for dancers whom wish to broaden their knowledge in dance. In Intermediate Modern, dancers will further their technical capabilities in Modern Technique with the addition of Choreography and Improvisation. Class is based on techniques created by Lester Horton, Martha Graham, Merce Cunningham, Jose Limon, Doris Humphrey and modern choreographers of today’s generation.
BEGINNING JAZZ
This class is intended to reinforce core strength, flexibility, musicality, and artistry for Classical Ballet. Students will warm up with various stretches and strength building exercises. The dancers will learn multiple combinations across the floor to further performance abilities.
INTERMEDIATE JAZZ
Jazz class will begin a warm-up including isolations, strengthening exercises and stretching. Combinations follow the warm-up across the floor to focus on jazz vocabulary and styled movement. The last section of class will focus on learning a piece of choreography where the dancer builds performance quality and personal expression through execution of the given steps.
Tap classes are available for all ages. Dancers learn the fundamentals of tap, refine technique for clarity and speed as well as learn combinations across the floor and center work. Dancers will work on musicality, rhythm and apply their technique in choreography during select performances. Tappers can start as early as age 3 and continue training through to the advanced level. Our energetic tap classes allow dancers the ability to explore their own style to become musicians in dance.
Hip Hop class starts with a warm-up focused on feeling rhythm in the music and learning to move/groove with the beat. The warm-up concludes with stretching. After the warm-up, combinations will be taught either going across the floor to focus on coordination and musicality, and/or a piece of choreography will be taught to develop personal styling and expression while maintaining musicality. We offer beginning hip hop starting at age 5 and intermediate hip hop for ages 9+.
